Random quirks

It has been awhile since I’ve posted here, everything has been fine, just hectic. Louie is his same adorable self and new facets of his personality continue to emerge (maybe I should have named him “Sybill”). One running joke I have with Louie is how wide his mouth opens. When he is beside me on the couch and yawns, I can almost stick my whole head in his mouth.

Louie is very thoughtful, he hides gifts of socks that he pulls from the cubby in my closet. He hides them in his blanket, under the pillows on my bead and in the blanket on top of my bed. One day, between my bed and his blanket, I found 8 pairs of socks.

One pair of socks is visible, there were several others twisted in the nest.

Another picture of Louie and a sock that came out of hiding.

I discovered Louie is into Feng Shui. I keep his big bed at the foot of my bed. I walked into the bedroom one afternoon and he had moved his bed into a position diagonal from my bed and the door. Apparently it is bad feng shui to have one’s bed aligned with the door.

Louie is also very possessive of his bed and blanket.  When I take the cover off of his bed to wash it, he becomes very fretful. I put the mattress on the deck to air out and he sits and stares at it until the cover is dry and back on the bed in its rightful place.

He's my little rock and roller!

Louie is a very happy dog. He finds something to roll in most every day. We walked in the local SPCA K9 3K walk in April and right there on the asphalt where the fragrance of a past squirrel carcass must have overwhelmed him, he lowered his shoulder and happily rolled right there in front of hundreds of his K9 brethren.  He’s incredibly playful and each day I try to remember to be grateful that he picked me that day at Saving Grace. I will try to be a little better about posting more regularly.

About Shoeful of Drool

I lived with a golden retriever/German shepherd mix named Dudley. Dudley was a rescue from Hurricane Floyd and he lived with me from October 1999 until he passed away in December 2012. In January 2001, Zoe a black & tan hound mix came to live with us until she died in June 2011. I truly believe having dogs has made me a better person. Every single day these dogs still give me something to laugh about and I hope by sharing these stories you can laugh, too.
